Welcome to a blog honoring offbeat essays, photo-documentaries and obscure books, all with a special emphasis on cemetery quirks…

Over the years, I noticed interesting sociological patterns in the various cemeteries I’ve visited. Over time, I’ve come to see cemeteries as unexplored treasure troves of personality traits and character flaws, so I began to do a little research. What I found were intriguing perspectives on folklore, history, religion and social taboos that do indeed, go beyond the ghosts. Thus, this blog was born.

 

 About the Photographer:

I’ve been a photographer for over ten years now, having had the great fortune to exhibit my landscape and fine art photos in U.S. embassies, the San Francisco Bay area and the Pacific NW. I also sell commercially and thoroughly enjoy getting outside for a shoot.  My main photo website can be found here but where cemeteries are concerned, I have a separate page for them that can be found here.

 

About the Writer:

During the past three years, I’ve balanced daily work and research to keep my readers interested and returning for more.  Throughout 2009, I’ve had the luxury of building on last year’s foundations with a number of articles on Pacific NW historical cemteries, all courtesy of grant awards from 4Culture and Allied Arts Foundation.
